The word Aquamarine comes from the Latin word 'Aqua Marinus' which means 'water of the sea'. In history, it was believed to be the treasure of mermaids, and was used by sailors as a talisman of good luck. It was also considered a stone of eternal youth and happiness.

Aquamarine is also a wonderful stone for travel, or for trips on boats as it provides protection from the ocean. A stone of natural justice, Aquamarine utilizes compromise and negotiation.
